Patient Frequently Asked Questions
How can I receive services at AKMOM?
Come and wait in line. Patients will be seen on a first come, first serve basis. Other states holding a MOM event have seen patients starting to line up the day/night before, with the clinic at capacity well before mid-morning. Once the total estimated number of patients we can see each day have been registered, no additional patients can be seen. Because we expect to see hundreds of patients in a day, please be prepared to wait several hours for service.
We are not taking reservations. Treatment is solely first–come, first-serve basis, as we can until we reach capacity.
Can I view the paperwork that I will be asked to fill out?
Yes, you can view the patient registration form by clicking here (2018 Patient Registration Form). Please do not fill this out in advance. You will be given a numbered registration form at the AKMOM event.
What kind of services can I expect to receive at AKMOM?
Our main goal is to relieve pain and restore smiles. We provide extractions, fillings, root canals limited to front teeth only and cleanings as well as some other dental procedures that can be appropriately done in a mission setting. We do not provide cosmetic dentistry, full dentures, implants or braces. Further, we may determine that we cannot take care of all of your dental needs at AKMOM, so that we can relieve pain for the greatest number of patients. Do I have to wait in line if my case is an emergency?
Everyone has to wait in line for services. Most AKMOM patients are suffering and in pain, so we do not take anyone out of line.
How long can I expect to spend at AKMOM?
Patients seeking treatment at AKMOM should be prepared to spend the entire day at the event. If you are not available when your name is called for treatment, we will move to the next patient.
What can I expect at AKMOM?
Come prepared for the weather when waiting in line, and have a plan to store your gear (tent, sleeping bag, blankets) while you are in the clinic, as large bags are not permitted. Also bring snacks as your wait for treatment may be lengthy.
Once capacity has been reached, the clinic doors will be closed and a sign will be placed outside as notification to others. This process will repeat on the second morning.
